History
Chris Watson founded Marble & Granite Works, Inc. in 1991 as a wholesale
distributor of stone flooring. In the beginning there were only three employees; today there are more than 80 employees,
including the original three, working in an expansive modern plant to which the company moved four years ago.
Watson explains, “Within the first year I wanted to include all my employees in the growth of the company. We
initiated a quarterly profit-sharing plan that first year, and it has been a significant contributor to our
company’s success to date.”
Marble & Granite Works has grown to be central Ohio’s largest importer of marble and granite.
Although the bulk of the company’s business is in mid-Ohio, it has been branching out to serve
customers as far away as Indiana, Kentucky, and West Virginia. Recently, Marble & Granite Works
received the Outstanding Subcontractor of the Year award from the Turner Construction Company for
its outstanding performance on Miranova, a luxury high-rise condominium development in down-town
Columbus with 120 units ranging in price from $400,000 to $2,000,000. |
